Zoology Nutrition with Live Animals - Virtual (Grades K-5)
Guest Zookeeper and Outschool teacher, Cindi, is excited to share her 35 years of zookeeping experience in this exclusive class just for GSMW's Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors.
During this special online experience, girls will enjoy snacking with live animals while learning about what the animals eat, the importance of proper nutrition, and how each animal finds its food.
While snakes and frogs swallow their food whole, most lizards chew their food. How do other animals eat? Do they nibble, gobble or chew loudly? This class will discuss the special muscles some animals use for swallowing, special qualities for hunting, and additional animal skills for finding hidden food.
While we humans enjoy occasional junk food, animals depend on good nutrition and correct food choices for survival. We will also discuss special vitamins zookeepers use for animals in their care and compare different animal kibbles and pellets and talk about what they are made from.
Participants will receive a nutrition fun patch in the mail after the program. There is no kit for this program. Children are encouraged to enjoy their own healthy snacks (or dinner) while participating in the program.
Registrants will receive a gift enrollment to this Outschool program whereupon they will need to create an Outschool account and enroll in the course for free using our private link.
Registration for this event is $14 per girl and closes on September 22nd.
After September 22nd, your program registration is non-refundable.
