DESCRIPTION:GOALS Cornerstone: Lead-Her - Laramie (Grades K-12) \n \n \n Join your sister Girl Scouts for an exciting evening of outdoor exploration in the Pole Mountain area of the Medicine Bow National Forest! \n \n \n This special program is led by a Cadette Girl Scout working toward her Silver Award through her project, Lead-Her—an initiative designed to help younger girls build confidence outdoors by learning foundational skills and discovering the joy of adventure. \n \n \n We’ll begin by learning about the 10 Essentials—the key items every adventurer should carry to stay safe outdoors. From there, we’ll head out on a short hike to explore the forest in summer, observing wildflowers, noticing the world around us as night time moves in. Along the way, girls will also be introduced to basic navigation skills to help them feel more confident finding their way outdoors. \n \n \n Depending on current fire restrictions, we’ll also learn introductory fire-building skills. We’ll wrap up the evening with s’mores, hopefully around a campfire. \n \n \n The whole family is invited to join this adventure! Participants younger than Kindergarten should plan to have adult assistance during activity portions. All participants should come prepared with appropriate outdoor clothing and a daypack with essential items. Additional details will be shared via email prior to the event. \n \n \n $5/day/vehicle fee is responsibility of anyone who drives a vehicle to the event. \n \n \n Please contact Amy to register any participants younger than 2 years old. Amyi@gsmw.org \n \n \n This trip is part of the GSMW Girl Scout Outdoor Adventure & Leadership Skills (GOALS) curriculum. Be sure to check out all of the options so you can choose the right trip for your girl! \n \n \n GOALS Cornerstone: This is a day trip for girls of all ages to begin learning outdoor skills, leadership skills and enjoy adventure together in the great outdoors! \n \n \n GOALS Trailhead: This trip is a single night trip designed for Junior and Cadette girls (4th-8th grade) that do not have any backpacking or backcountry experience. Each camper must be accompanied by an adult companion who is a registered Girl Scout volunteer with an approved background check. Tent arrangements can accomodate girls attending with a family or non-family member. Girls will learn backpacking and backcountry basics and gain confidence with their skills! \n \n \n GOALS Ascent: This is a 3 day/2 night trip for Cadette girls who have attended our GOALS Trailhead trip and Senior and Ambassador girls who do not have any backcountry skills. Cadette girls can request instructor approval if they have not attended GOALS Trailhead, but do have sufficient backcountry/camping skills. Campers may attend this trip in a troop camp style by including at least one registered adult with approved background check per 2-3 girls. Adults are expected to participate in activities and supervise campers as needed. Girls will focus on becoming efficient at all backcountry living skills and peer leadership skills. \n \n \n GOALS Summit: This is a 3-4 day/2-3 night trip for Senior and Ambassador girls. Girls do not need to have experience on a previous GOALS trip, but should be realistic about the challenge of this trip. This trip is open to girls as well as any accompanying adults that would like to join the adventure with their girls. Adults are expected to participate in activities and assist as needed. The GOALS Summit will annually vary between a Wilderness First Aid, Survival and Leadership focus. \n \n \n Registration for this event is $8 per participant and closes on July 6th. \n \n After July 6th, your program registration is non-refundable. \n \n \n Current Program Capacity \n
